Do you want to make healthier choices

At CHP, we support people who want to or need to make a change to their lifestyle including about what they eat or drink, being more active or managing stress. There are a limited number of free 1 hour sessions run by our trainee Health Psychologist with supervision from a fully qualified and registered Health Psychologist.

Getting support to make your change happen is okay

We provide up to six sessions with a free 30 minute introductory consultation. If you decide that you would like support, we will start with a 1 hour session that is more about assessment and discussion about what is going on and then followed by a personalised and tailored set of sessions.

EX4 3JQ

We hold our sessions at Glorious Exeter Cafe where we will have a private space to meet in a comfortable space close to Exeter High Street. We also have other locations in Exeter that we can use, so just let us know what is convenient for you.

Using whatever works for you

We can discuss the best ways to meet up online based on whatever you already use. If we need to use an online meeting link that you are not familiar with, we will work with you to test it and get comfortable using it before our session begins.

It’s all about what works for you

It’s not always easy to fit in these sessions, so we will be flexible to your schedule including weekends and evenings, and for some the early morning slot might work better. We will work this out with you at the start.

About health psychologists

Also known as Applied Psychologists or Practitioner Psychologists

Health Psychologists focus more on physical health and supporting people in managing psychological and emotional aspects of getting or staying healthier. They can work with people who are relatively healthy already but want to make better choices or for people who are chronically ill or have long term illnesses. Using a number of approaches and skills, they will work with the client to assess the situation, discuss options and ways in which change could be made or at least about getting started. They will then use psychological and behavioural sciences to support as people start making changes to support their health.

Health Psychologists are qualified to practice after they complete Stage 2 training and register with The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). Whilst they in training, they will be supervised by someone who is already registered with the Council. Find out more about Practitioner Psychologists at BPS.
